Crestwood Intermediate School Donation
After reaching out to Crestwood Intermediate School to assess the various needs of the students, it was agreed that the high cost of groceries continues to put undue stress on the students and their families. The school staff suggested that, if we could, sponsor eight (8) families with gift cards to a local supermarket. The Alumni Association agreed to provide the eight (8) families with $75.00 gift cards to Food Lion Supermarket. The picture below shows Association members presenting the cards to school staff.

Donation to Portlock Primary School I
The Alumni Association continues to support the Portlock Primary School. Portlock identified a significant need for replacement clothes for their young students who are in need of clothing to change into when they have “accidents” while in school. After identifying the most needed sizes, the Association purchased 40 pairs of pants; 6 storage bins for the clothes; and, several pairs of hangers. Below is a picture of the presentation at the school.

Preserving Our Legacy

The New Chesapeake Men For Progress Scholarship Program Education Foundation Inc.
The Alumni Association was honored to receive recognition for its support of Chesapeake Public Schools. The school system’s Department of Strategic Planning and Partnerships sent us a decal (below) thanking us for our contributions to the schools, students, and staff. Please check the Community Highlights tab on the website for information regarding the many contributions made by the Association to the various schools in the city.
The mission of Chesapeake Public Schools is “to promote educational excellence by engaging all students in meaningful and innovative learning experiences that empower them to successfully fulfill their life’s purpose.” They also feel that by combining the efforts of students, parents, community, and staff, they strive to provide quality education in a safe environment. The partnership with Chesapeake Public Schools reinforces the mission of the Alumni Association’s mission of “preserving the lasting legacy of Crestwood High School’s impact on communities throughout the country and the world through its academic excellence, professional development, community involvement and service, and sports achievement.”
The Association continues to lend its support to organizations that are offering tremendous support to our youth throughout the community. The New Chesapeake Men for Progress has been providing support in the form of scholarships, grants and mentoring services to African American males in the City of Chesapeake for over 14 years. To date, the organization has recognized two hundred and thirty African American males graduates from the City’s seven schools. Plus, this year they will recognize one African American Student from each middle school with hopes that this will encourage them towards achieving success at the high school level.
The Alumni Association was proud to be a “Bronze” contributor to this very worthy cause with a donation of $1000.00. We look forward to partnering with this organization’s Education Foundation in the future to continue making positive impacts on the future of our youth.

Donation to Portlock Primary School II
The Alumni Association answered the call from Portlock Primary School assist with helping the teachers with obtaining needed supplies and clothing for the students. There was an ongoing need to help maintain underclothes at the school for students who have “accidents” during their time at the school. The Alumni Association answered the school’s request by providing 75 pairs of under clothing for.
There was also a request for teaching materials that was needed to assist the teachers with providing the best possible learning experience for the students. We presented the staff with a check for $400.00 dollars so that they would be able to purchase some of those materials.
Ms. Halleck, the school’s counselor, responded by saying, “We here at Portlock Primary School are so thankful to the men and women of the Crestwood High School Alumnae Association! Your thoughtfulness and donations will allow us to provide for the most basic needs of our Tiny Tigers, as well as support our teachers in providing extra hands-on materials for our students to learn. Thank you!”
